Today we are going to talk about one of the most interesting treks of India that is the Munsiyari Trek, situated in Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand.
It is a really thrilling trek as the journey of 100 Sansar or 1 Munsiyari lives up to its name, and the wholesome view of Panchachuli Peaks are really something that you should see by yourself. This article is a mere try to give you the experience of the beauty.
THE JOURNEY
The journey starts from Dehradun, there is a bus that travels to Pithoragarh everyday and it’s departure time is 1 PM and reaches Pithoragarh at 6 AM the next morning, the whole night is spent making way through the mountains. And the cool thing about the second stop is that it is Lohaghat, and this is the place from where the Kumaon region mountain starts. After reaching Pithoragarh you can chill there for a while and wait for taxi till 8 AM, these taxis will drop you at Thall and from there you will see several taxis lined up for Munsiyari. After reaching Munsiyari the breeze you feel, it’s really something unique and peaceful in its own way. And the view of Panchkula Peaks will add to the lovely experience of yours.
HOTELS AND STAY
There are some hotels with great views and locations and the rooms are around 500rs per night off season and may go upto 2-3 thousand on season as there not that many hotels. And for the stoner people who are going for peace of mind can find there peace in general stores.
THE TREK
The best beginner trek according to me are Khaliya top and zero point. The trek starts from 4km ahead of Munsiyari, from the Billati band as the local calls it. It’s around 7 km to 8 km trek till zero point and there is also a guest house in between. After reaching the Khaliya top 3500 meters above the sea level, the mesmerizing view of Panchachuli and the sunset turns white mountain into golden giving the view of life for the trekkers. The zero point may seem to be close at the beginning but after you start going towards the peak the way seems never ending. At some point you will loose the sight of Khaliya top and after reaching Zero point I guarantee you will enjoy the view for sure. I would highly recommend this trek and Munsiyari is definitely worth a visit!
